By car, board at Piombino Marittima where two comfortable ferry lines (Toremar and Moby Lines) run frequently throughout the day during the summer. With just an hour long trip the 10km circa that separate the island from the continent are covered, reaching the ports of Portoferraio, Porto Azzurro and Rio Marina.
There is also a passenger-only hydrofoil, reaching Cavo (Rio Marina) in only 20 minutes, then continuing to Portoferraio with another 15 minutes trip.
