Situated on the southern side of the Gulf of Naples, a celebrated beauty spot and resort since the time of the Roman Republic. It rises from the deep sea, with a jagged coastline with natural grottos, vineyards and gardens.
The main sites of the island are the Marina Piccola (Small Harbor), the Belvedere of Tragara; a high panoramic villa - lined promenade, the Faraglioni; limestone masses in the sea, Anacapri, the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra), and the ruins of the Imperial Roman villas.
Capri is a tourist destination for both Italians and foreigners. In the 1950s, Capri became a popular destination for the world-wide jet set. The central piazzetta of Capri, with its modest village architecture, is lined with luxury boutiques, expensive restaurants, and paparazzi chasing celebrities.
